Ministry strives to address deficiencies
Being stricter around planning, financial discipline and the construction of high quality infrastructure at reasonable costs are some of the targets that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport would like to reach in the coming years. These points were outlined at the Ministry’s annual meeting which opened on February 21 in Vientiane entitled Breakthrough for the systematical address of undesirable issues in the public works and transport sector. Some 212 projects had been authorised in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 financial years for the Ministry to implement of which 35 of those projects were completed. The Ministry had targeted 1.7 trillion kip as revenue over the two years, however, that number has reached 2.3 trillion kip.
