KOICA completes digital maps of Vientiane
A joint cooperation project between Laos and the Republic of Korea on the digital mapping of Vientiane, covering 4,600 hectares on a scale of 1 to 2,000 was completed recently, with a handover ceremony held in Vientiane on February 28. During the ceremony, the Korea International Cooperation Agency officially handed over the digital maps to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The maps have been developed as part of the project on digital topographic mapping and capacity building in Laos, which received a grant of US$3.5 million. From 2014 to 2017, KOICA has supported the Ministry of Home Affairs not only to produce a series of large-scale digital maps of Vientiane but also to develop the capacity of Lao officials by transferring technologies and experiences on digital topographic mapping.
