Kingdom preps for China trade center
Cambodia plans to open a trade center in China this year and the Commerce Ministry is hoping the initiative broadens economic relations and cultural exchange. Soeng Sophary, spokeswoman for the Commerce Ministry, told Khmer Times that a group of delegates from the ministry are currently in China’s Shaanxi province to meet with the governor there about plans for the center. “Right now, our minister is having a meeting with local Chinese officials in order to work with them on what the government’s offer is since President Xi Jinping came to our country and offered us a place for the center,” she said. “Actually, we already have a commercial counselor’s office in Nanning where we mainly focus on boosting trade and investment. But the new center is bigger than the commercial one and it is broader because we will not only focus on trade and investment but also on culture and tourism. We want the relationship between our two countries to grow.”
