Visitors to Cambodia spike after Thai terror
The number of visitors crossing into Cambodia through Poipet City spiked after last week’s bombings at tourist sites in Thailand, according to a senior official in the Banteay Meanchey provincial tourism department. The number of tourists coming in through the border town per day has almost doubled since Friday compared to the days that preceded it, which saw between 700 and 1,000 daily entries, the normal amount for this time of year, said Chhoeun Sereyvuth, deputy head of tourism in the province. Ms. Sivlin said the abnormally high figures would likely be short-lived. “I think people might just be freaking out,” she said.
