Sweden supports Thai partnership for plastic reduction
With support from the Swedish government, the Solid Waste Management Association, Thailand (SWAT) is launching its Plastic Footprint Reduction Project to reduce ocean plastic pollution
The project is under the framework of the United Nations Environment Programme’s SEA circular project and initiated by the Coordinating Body on the Seas of East Asia (COBSEA).
SWAT and participating organizations are signing a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to show their commitment to reducing some of the about eight million tonnes of plastic waste that ends up in the oceans each year.
One of SWAT’s Plastic Footprint Reduction Project keystones is the reduction of plastic usage and to increase in the recovery and recycling of plastic waste to support a circular economy. The project works with companies and organizations all over Thailand in helping them to point out where actions can bring about more significant results.
