New decision aims to enhance project implementation and costings
A new draft Prime Ministerial Decision plans to make all government investment project costs and technical specification estimations subject to Ministry of Public Works oversight. According to the draft decision, only the relevant authority within the Ministry of Public Works and Transport will be able to sign off on studies, reports, designs and other matters related to infrastructure, particularly in relation to unit costs, quantity surveys and estimates. The draft of the new decision was tabled for discussion at the annual meeting of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport this week. The draft decision refers to the management of quality and price for all government infrastructure construction and repair projects, aiming to ensure quality and also value for money.
