Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2019
Asia-Pacific Climate Week (APCW) 2019 is designed to advance regional climate action. It aims to support implementation of Asia-Pacific countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement on climate change and action to deliver on the SDGs. APCW is envisioned as a stepping stone to the 2019 Climate Action Summit.
The first two days of the Week include a series of closed sessions such as the NDC Dialogue, the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) Regional Forum for Asia, a training workshop on accreditation to the Adaptation Fund and a Marrakech Partnership meeting. Open sessions include the 14th Policy Consultation Forum of the Seoul Initiative Network on Green Growth themed, ‘Enhancing and Implementing NDCs with Ambition and Transparency,’ as well as events on carbon pricing, resilience and adaptation planning. A high-level segment on Wednesday will consider efforts to achieve the aims of the Paris Agreement ahead of the 25th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 25) to the UNFCCC, and subsequent sessions will address, inter alia: raising ambition in NDC implementation; social and political drivers; energy and industry transition; nature-based solutions; infrastructure, cities and local action, including buildings and transport; and climate finance. At the conclusion of the Week, recommendations for the Climate Action Summit will be presented.
